Press Monitoring Project

Selected articles/stories featuring NGOs and foreign foundations active in Belarus

In October 1996, the United Way-Belarus launched the Press Monitoring Project. The main goal of the new initiative is to trace the featuring of the Belarusian third sector activity in Belarusian mass media.

All stories and articles related to NGO activity are placed in special files. The search can be conducted according to the following criteria:

  • name of the newspaper;
  • title of the article;
  • author of the publication; newspaper issue;
  • synopsis of the article;
  • special code of the NGO’s field of activity.

As of January 2008 the database of Press Monitoring comprised more than 76 500 newspaper cuttings from 24 national and regional papers. The project remains a unique initiative recording Belarusian history in the period of transition and is of great practical value too. This information is open to public use and can be reviewed by any interested entity – NGOs, officers of grantmaking institutions, researchers, journalists and other concerned persons.

The Project provides a free access to information on NGO related topics featured in the Belarusian newspapers to all interested NGOs, foundations, corporate funds, Private Volunteer Organizations, journalists, analysts, government officials and individuals.
