International Scientific and Practical Conference

“The 60th Anniversary of Signing Geneva Conventions: Confirmation of Adherence to the Fundamental Principles of the International Humanitarian Law and Development Thereof” International Scientific and Practical Conference was held on September 16 in Minsk by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus. 

The Conference is timed to the 60th anniversary of signing Geneva Conventions 1949 on protection of war victims, which is the basis of the International Humanitarian Law.
 
The Conference was arranged with support of the International Committee of the Red Cross Organization, under the auspices of the Commission for the International Humanitarian Law Implementation under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, and is held on the premises of the International Institute of Labour and Social Relations.
 
The following set of issues related to the International Humanitarian Law will be considered at the Conference:
 
1. History and Urgency of Geneva Conventions;
2. Implementation of Geneva Conventions by the member-states.
 
The representatives from the governmental bodies, organizations, and scientific circles of the Republic of Belarus, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Ukraine, the regional delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross Organization in the Russian Federation, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine, members of the Commission for the International Humanitarian Law Implementation under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus.
 
Opening of the Resource Centre for the International Humanitarian Law on the premises of the International Institute of Labour and Social Relations is timed to the Conference.
 
On the basis of Conference results a final declaration will be passed.
