Participation of the Ministry of Justice in the OSCE meeting on human measurement issues in Warsaw
The representatives from the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus took part in the OSCE meeting on the issues of human measurement held on 28-29 September in Warsaw.
During the 3-rd working session the workers of the Ministry of Justice reported on the measures taken in the Republic of Belarus to ensure the freedom of associations.
It was mentioned in particular, that freedom of associations of the Belarusian citizens is provided for by the Constitution, and all efforts are made for the citizens to be able to exercise such right.
The Belarusian legislation in the field of creation and activities of non-governmental organizations is improved perennially. At the present time the draft law, which provides for simplification of NGO registration procedure, is under consideration at the Parliament.
The meeting participants were also informed on the fact, that active formation of civil society was in progress. In 2009 alone, 63 newly-established NGOs and over 3 thousand organizational structures of NGOs were registered.
As of 1 October 2009, as many as 15 political parties, 35 trade unions, 2224 non-governmental organizations (209 international, 699 republican, 1316 local), 22 unions (associations) of NGOs were in the register.
