UNDP Delegation visited Mogilev region

19.10.11. Delegation of representatives of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) visited Mogilev region. 

UNDP, together with the Global Fund, have been working in Mogilev region since 1994 in two directions. Within the first direction – combating AIDS and prevention from propagation of tuberculosis and malaria – anonymous consultation centers for consumers of injection drugs function in the premises of the Mogilev regional structures of the Belarusian Red Cross Society.
 
Also, “Nadezhda” (hope) Social Support Center was opened in 2010 in Mogilev within this direction of activities centers for consumers of injection drugs who live with AIDs/ HIV.
 
The second direction is dealing with consequences of Chernobyl accident. Within this direction, UNDP renders assistance in solution of household problems of people affected by that accident, and grants are provided to people willing to start their own businesses.
 
In future, UNDP is planning to support projects aimed at environmental protection, development of alternative sources of energy, small and medium-scale business.
